Nominator's project description

Professor Iyengar is one of the leading international researchers in commutative algebra. He has contributed in particular to topics at the interface between commutative algebra, algebraic topology, and representation theory of algebras. For example, he demonstrated that local cohomology is a useful machinery far beyond the usual scope of commutative algebra. In Germany, he continues to work on "Derived categories of commutative rings and of finite dimensional algebras".
